Moline, Illinois (May 1, 2025) – Renew Moline using a grant from the John Deere Foundation has recently completed a one -year study with Andrea of New Venture Advisors (NVA) to evaluate the feasibility of a public market in the SPIEGEL building! With more than twenty years of experience in the advice of the food industry, Carbine leads the planning and infrastructure projects for organizations for food systems and is based on deep experiences in the company and the management of common kitchens, incubation and acceleration programs, restaurant and hospitality as well as resources for supply chains in communities in the whole country.
The President and CEO of Renew Moline, Alexandra Elias, came to Andrea to present the knowledge of the study to the city council of Moline in a working session on April 15 in order to present important findings from a feasibility study carried out by NVA. The study helps us to determine whether a public market in the city center of Moline can thrive – and focuses on the interest of the community, the participation of stakeholders, operational viability and financial feasibility.
The public markets have the potential to serve as lively economic hubs, to promote the growth of local small businesses, to create rooms for public collecting and increase access to fresh, healthy foods. The feasibility study resulted in a need for these activities in moline and a strong interest of organizations who wanted to operate in such a room. While the Spiegel construction site has promising, the study also evaluated an alternative place to build new ones. The report by New Venture Advisors can be found here: PowerPoint presentation. Take in! Moline
Since July 2024, the Moline Center program has tried to bring dealers and real estate owners together with the city to plan the expected effects of the Arsenal -Viaduct -Redecking project. The Arsenal Viaduct project is scheduled to begin and require reduced parking spaces in two surface plots in the city in the city center, closures on the River Drive and 4th Avenue (not simultaneously) and a detour in the city center during the eighteen month project. In coordination with the management and staff of city administrations, the Moline Center program organized information meetings for retailers and real estate owners in the city center on January 9 to discuss the expected effects and collaborative opportunities how the municipality can work together in the city center in order to prepare for the project time. The meetings were well attended, and information provided by the dealers and owners about their parking spaces, delivery plans as well as questions and concerns provided helpful information on the development of park management and communication plans. The work of this ramp! The Moline initiative continues and the commitment of the municipality in the city center and the support of the city were affected in the project preparation process. Mobile phone at the Home Workshop series Update!
In the past few months, Moline CDC and Butterworth Center Homeowners have continued to strengthen practical knowledge from our cell phone at the Home Workshop series. Finally, we have organized two invaluable meetings that concentrated on the energy efficiency of the basics and the installation of the basics and help the participants to convey their household authority and sustainability.
During the workshop on energy efficiency, the participants discovered simple yet effective ways to reduce energy consumption, reduce the supply calculations and create a more environmentally friendly home. Experts shared best practices for insulation, intelligent devices and energy -saving habits that make a difference.
In the plumbing essential workshop, the participants learned, as often resolved in the plumber problems, from leaky taps to clogged drains. Practical demonstrations provided insights into basic repairs, preventive maintenance and knowledge of when it is time to call a specialist.
These workshops are intended to build trust and practical skills for homeowners and ensure that they have the tools and knowledge to effectively maintain their houses. Be looking forward to upcoming meetings while we continue to offer valuable learning opportunities!
