Arlington, Vt. (WCAX) – In Arlington Commons, a repair job of 350,000 US dollars is underway.
Several government programs finance the restoration of the Watkin House, a historic building in the commons.
The project focuses on its chimney, its shingle cladding and the marble base.
The organizers also plan to reproduce a veranda that was removed in the 1950s to make them accessible to ADA.
The aim is to keep the old school feeling of the building with historical building materials.
“As if they did a good job, we had to spend more money on materials because we want to keep them, they know things like cedar shingles or cedar posts and such things to ensure that everything is done correctly” Bebe Bullock, the Vice President of the Arlington Commons Board.
The organizers hope to complete the restoration until early spring.
