Schoharia ensures parking by Parrott House

Schoharia – Parking behind the 300 Main Street was a long -term problem for city workers. Veterans like James Schultz or Pamela Foland remember anecdotes of their problems a few years ago.

The problem is that from a legal point of view, the employees only removed ten feet from the rear part of the town hall building to use as parking, with the rest of the property of the Parrott House. However, a solution can now be in sight.

At the Schoharie Town Board meeting on Wednesday evening, supervisor Ben Oevering said that they had received a request for a lot of adaptation from the Parrott House on the side of the town hall.

The main engineer, who is currently working on renovation work for the historic hotel, explained that you need three foot from the city of the city for a potential elevator, but has not yet been carved in stone.

After dealing with their guidelines, the supervisor found that they could not give the country to the Parrot House because the trade for something else has to be considered, and he could not imagine any better candidate than the legal right to use their parking space.

“This is perfect for a parking department or a ten -year contract or something for land use,” he said.

He continued and noted that the owners could very well limit the use of their property by the city for paying customers if the restoration of Parrot House has great commercial success.

The argument quickly gained the rest of the board, with Floyd Guernsey said: “I see no problem with this trade. It's the good neighborhood.”

As soon as all members agreed, the board gave a unanimous application to try to pursue the legal right to park behind their buildings.

In other messages, the board also set a date for a special meeting with the city of Esperance.

The meeting determines the reassessment of CAP 1, and after the supervisor spoke to Esperance, he explained that it should not take longer than thirty minutes.

The joint discussion will take place on June 5 at 6:30 p.m., half an hour before the Water Assembly of the Central Bridge Water Sewer, and planning all members of the board.
