When building the New York FHB House, Jon Beer also built an impressive, one -story, free -standing shop of 1200 square meters. The room was developed to promote the balance between work-life balance and serves both as a woodworking business and as a art studio. The combination shop studio is completely self-sufficient with its own HLK system, water and septic compounds.

In addition to the renovation and construction of the house here, we also built a 1200 square meter foot. Business. The building itself is actually a building that looks like two and it should have two specific uses. There were some logistical challenges when we built the house and business at the same time.
We had to make sure that we staged things correctly. For example, when the foundation was carried out for the shop, we also had to do the mechanical work to bring service programs there. We had to dig a trench, run a line for water from the house, connect the sewage pit system in the shop with the bathroom and also bring an electric service wire outside. These tasks required a lot of coordination between the electrician, the excavator and the plumber, to ensure that everything has landed where we wanted before the concrete was cast and things were flit in stone.
During the design phase I knew that I wanted to build a business. For budgeting purposes, we discussed whether it would be part of the house, in the basement or a detached structure. Ultimately, we decided a detached structure to create a separation and maintain the balance of working life. In this way, my wife would not have to hear woodworking tools at eight or nine o'clock at night.
We decided to build a 1200 square meter FFT. detached building. It is a one -story structure of the degree. There were regulations that we had to comply with in terms of its placement on the property, e.g. B. the height below 16 feet on the comb.
The shop has its own subpanel from the house, a waterline from the house and a connection to the sewage pit system. It also has its own HLK system with two canal coses of miniplits that heat the room and cool down. The shop is completely self -sufficient so that I can go in there and work comfortably.
My contractual business is devoted to about 800 m² as a storage space and work area. The remaining square foot – about 600 – are for my painting studio. I have a background in visual art that I studied before I became a building contractor. I am thrilled to finally have a painting studio that is not in the basement.
