Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to a warehouse fire Sunday evening

Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to a warehouse on Manning Bridge Road Sunday evening.

SUFFOLK, Va. – A fire in the HVAC unit of a warehouse brought Suffolk firefighters to the 100 block of Westport Parkway on Sunday.

According to a news release from the Suffolk Department of Fire & Rescue, the fire was reported at 5:05 p.m. The location is on Manning Bridge Road.

Engine 4 arrived at the largely unoccupied warehouse at 5:10 p.m., with fire evident from a large heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system on the roof in the center of the warehouse, the release said.

The firefighters got to the roof via turntable ladders and internal roof access. The fire was confined to the HVAC unit. No fire spread to the interior of the building and the contents of the warehouse were not damaged.

The fire was brought under control at 5:46 p.m., the release said. No injuries to firefighters were reported and the cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
