Suryapet: Farmers from Lakshmapuram village in Nagaram mandal protested on Saturday demanding restoration of water supply through SRSP 70 DBM canal. Farmers expressed frustration over the irrigation department's failure to provide water to the Ayacut at the tail end, which had an adverse impact on their farms.
The farmers encroached on the SRSP 70 DBM canal and demanded immediate repairs to ensure water supply to the last area of the command area. They highlighted their dependence on the SRSP Stage II canal for irrigation and expressed concerns about drying out of their fields due to inadequate water supply.
The farmers appealed to Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy for intervention. They called for a quick government response to restore water supplies and prevent further damage to their farmland.
