Swampscott – The city wants to give the Swampscott Public Library some new upgrades to improve the infrastructure.
According to Max Kasper, Director of Facilities, a proposal for upgrades strive to improve various elements of the front entrance. Kasper said that the city was working to re -configure the front terrace and the entrance to the library in order to modernize certain parts of the structure that have been exposed to wear over the years.
Kasper noticed that the city also wanted to install a new window facade on the front of the building. A window facade typically refers to the outside of the building, which mainly contains windows as part of the design.
Also on the list of the proposed upgrades is a new anteroom in the front of the building, which is generally known as a small entrance or closed area between the outer door and the city center of the building, which acts as a buffer zone between outside and inside the building.
Kasper said another point on the agenda would revise the handicap ramp and make other minor aesthetic improvements at the entrance.
An essential element of the upgrades to the library is the foundation that, according to Kasper repairs, is. He explained that the building had been used and operated over the course of many years, certain problems with the infiltration of water had ended up in the basement. He added that the hope is to tackle the infiltration problem and ultimately prevent the water from getting into the foundation and worsening the problem.
The city is working with the architect Raymond Guertin on the project. Kasper said, as soon as a contractor is hired for most of the work, the estimated term for the project would be a few months before the work was completed.
