President Donald Trump's trade war affects the Americans from the grocery store to electricity bills, whereby the costs for bananas, beef wood meat and electricity increase at all -time highs, according to the latest data from the consumer price index.

Large US retailers have announced price increases due to tariffs, and the costs for a handful of everyday goods and services have increased by 5% to 10% since Trump.

But not all consumer goods produce. The average nationwide costs for bread, milk and tomatoes have dropped since December, and the price for chicken and oranges is similar with the change in the administrations.

The tribune pursues eleven everyday costs for Americans – eggs, milk, bread, bananas, oranges, tomatoes, chicken, beef wood meat, gasoline, electricity and natural gas – and how they change during Trump's second term or not. This tracker is updated monthly using CPI data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Egg

The egg prices went back by a second month in a row in May and fell 57 cents after the record high of March.

According to the latest data, the average costs for a dozen eggs in the large class A across the country across the country are $ 4.55 and counted among the 5 dollars for the first time since January.

The decline in egg prices has probably decreased to a decline in bird flu traps in commercial and in the back yard since the beginning of the year. In the first two months of 2025, 12.6 to 23.2 million birds were affected by a highly pathogenic influenza in the United States, according to the US Agricultural Ministry. In March this number was 2.1 million and from April the virus was found in just 1 million US birds.

Although still significantly lower than the number registered in January and February, the cases again rose with 5.2 million affected birds in May – the vast majority focused on three commercial herds in Arizona. This increase in cases could show another small price jump in the summer months.

Currently, the cost of eggs is about 9.6% higher than before Trump.

Milk

It is not just herds of poultry and wild birds affected by bird flu. According to the centers for the control and prevention of diseases, the virus has been reported in milk cows since March 2024, and only last month there were 24 new confirmed cases in Dairy Farms in Idaho, Texas and Arizona.

While bird flufalls tick in the poultry again, they decrease in cattle, with the number of newly infected milk cows reporting only half of them in April.

As a result, the milk costs for the month have dropped against the month, but a look at the change of the year compared to the previous year is a little different: prices have increased by more than 4%.

From May, a gallon of fresh, paved whole milk would bring it back about 4.02 US dollars.

Bread

From May, white bread costs $ 1.88 per pound. This price is somewhat lower than Trump started its second term and about 10 cents less than 12 months ago.

Banana

Buyers can expect more to pay for their next banana rays. The booklet cost a record of $ 0.66 per pound in May.

Compared to April, the price rose by 2 cents-to-the-die increasing increase of a monthly month from months to January 2021.

This sudden spike is probably due to Trump's trade war, in which the tariffs against the best banana importers in the country such as Guatemala, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Honduras and Mexico are collected.

Orang

The orange prices rose by 5% compared to the previous month. However, this change has little to do with the current administration.

How many citrus fruits are strongly bound by orange costs. When we leave the orange season, the supply decreases and falls together with an increase in demand, which triggered higher prices. This is standard for the fruit market, with oranges the cheapest in the winter months and then increased in late spring and summer and reached a climax every year in September or October.

The average price per pound for umbilical oranges is currently $ 1.56 nationwide.

Tomato

Although maybe not the first thing you think when you hear the term “basic food”, tomatoes are an essential ingredient in all types of dishes, pasta and pizza about soups, salads and Blt -sandwiches.

In May, the average price for field tomatoes was around $ 1.71 per pound. These costs are about 8 cents lower than in April and around 17%since Trump took over power.

However, this decline is mainly due to the vegetation period. Depending on the season, tomato prices vary like oranges, increased in autumn, reaching a climax in the early winter months and then decreasing in spring.

Nevertheless, the prices from this time in the previous year declined a little more than 8%.

Chicken

Chicken is another consumer product in which a price tip can be seen due to the bird flu – although not nearly as drastic as eggs. A reason? Significantly more egg layers were selected than chickens raised for meat.

The national average of over $ 2 per pound for fresh, whole chicken for the first time last year and in November achieved a record high of USD 2.08. Since then, the average price has been about the same. According to the May CPI, the chicken is $ 2.06 per pound.

Minced meat

The prices for beef wood meat continue to tend, up and up.

For the fourth month, the costs for the beef rose with an average price of 100% beef meat chuck in the amount of $ 6.02 per pound.

The rising costs can be attributed to a number of factors. In addition to several backs in the beef meat in the past few months, the US cattle stock is at a low point of 25, and according to the US Ministry of Agriculture, the US Ministry of Agriculture has further reduced the supply of feed.

In recent times, the United Kingdom has declared a deal with the USA in the trade talks with the United States, a deal that the President says that he will lead to larger exports. But since China and the European Union's tariffs remain for beef and other US farm exports, this may not be the last time we see record prices this year.

Maybe 2025 is the year to try vegetarianism?

Electricity

In May, the average electricity for electricity was 18 cents per kilowatt hour nationwide. This average has kept more or less the same since then last year, with the typical changes to the month against the month registered with less than a fraction of a cent.

Nevertheless, the current electricity costs are the highest record costs – more than 45 years ago.

petrol

The price at the pump fell lightly on the month month month from 2 cents from April to May.

At 3.31 USD per gallon of regular lead -free, gasoline costs about 5% more than in the last month of President Joe Biden's administration. Last year, however, prices decreased by around 12%.

In Chicago, the gas is about 11 cents higher than in the nationwide average and, according to the US energy information management, is $ 3.42 per gallon.

natural gas

The cost of pipe gas or natural gas did not record a month -month month month with an average of $ 1.63 per thermal bath.

The price is at a two-year high and has increased by almost 7% as part of the Trump administration.
