Rapid City, SD (Kota) – One of the best -known buildings of the Black Hills has renovated and recently received donations to achieve his goal of total restoration.
In 2018, the Homestake Opera House Society, with the aim of collecting 8 million US dollars for the conclusion of the final restoration phases of the opera house, which were burned tragically in 1984. While initial steps such as fire protection measures have occurred, a lot of work still has to be done to ensure that the building has no further accident. The donation goal is now closer to $ 15 million and Homestake President Jay Jacobs says that every dollar is needed.
“Our first big project was the fire system and that was considering the story why we are in this campaign,” said Jacobs. “Some important work with the move of large supply companies to ensure that they match the level of the HLK power that this facility needs. This will probably be one of the early steps.”
The next steps focus on restoring the art and architecture of the building. Jacobs says the goal is to return its size to the building, not only for the opera house, but also for the community.
“Part of the goal of the goal is to restore this building in its historical size,” said Jacobs. “But as the board, it is our vision to also include what this building was originally intended for and for which the community of lead is.”
“The arts are not only very important to me, I think only very important for the entire community,” said operations manager Ryan Brewer. “It is great for our training and I think it is very important that our youth grows up primarily. The more art education we get out and the more we can offer for the community, the better.”
Jacobs and Brewer ask the public to further support the arts by taking part in the Homestake Opera House Masquerade Ball on June 7th. Click here to support.
