When Simon Davis, a 38-year-old AA strip police officer from Connahs Kai, turned into the Wrexham Motorfest 2024 in a lovingly restored classic mini, it was not just about his love for vintage vehicles, it was the fulfillment of a deeply personal promise.
The mini, who belongs to Simons uncle Howard Jones from Broughton, has long been a shared passion. But as Howard, who lives with Becer's muscular dystrophy, became too sick to continue the restoration itself.

He said: “In 2019 I took over and swore to complete it, and I did exactly that in 2024.”
The Wrexham Motorfest will return this year on Saturday, July 19th on the Penyllan Farm in Marchwiel. The event of last year was the first public excursion of the Mini and a milestone for Simon, Howard and Simon's little son Alfie.

Simon said: “My partner Jackie works for the Nightingale House HOSPICE and showed me the flyer for the engine test. I immediately said:” I go! ”
“The mix of classic vehicles and support a local charity organization, how could I say no?”
The event was a great success with thousands, and for Simon it was the perfect way to celebrate years of commitment.

Simon spoke about his experiences with the Wrexham Motorfest and said: “The rain stopped, Alfie and I enjoyed the trips and stands and even triggered a monster truck. But the highlight showed the mini of my uncle for the first time.
“It was brilliant to talk to people who appreciated the work that dealt with them and heard their own stories.
“Alfie also loved it, he has asked himself since then to drive in the mini loads!”

Now Simon is encouraging other enthusiasts to join fun in 2025. He said: “It is such an inviting, relaxed environment. All you have to do is to register your car online, dive and enjoy the day.
“Regardless of whether you want to relax in a top hair or explore all the attractions, there is something for everyone. If you have a car that you love, let it register!”
The Wrexham Motorfest is sponsored by Bellis Transport and C&M Transport and will again transform the Penyllan Farm into a spectacular celebration of the chassis and the community spirit. The event collects important funds for the Nightingale House HOSPICE and offers care and support for people in the northeast of Wales and in the border areas.
