The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District recently launched a Opinion poll Designed to gauge the Dare County community's interest in establishing a Restoration Advisory Board for Buxton Naval Facility, a former defense site (FUDS) Property on Cape Hatteras National Seashore.

The deadline to complete the survey is Wednesday, December 4th.

According to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, a Restoration Advisory Board is a stakeholder advisory group that meets regularly to discuss environmental restoration at Department of Defense sites such as the FUDS site at Buxton Naval Facility. These meetings are intended to bring the community together – in a more formal and structured manner than a typical public meeting – to enable the exchange of recovery information between regulators, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and interested community members.

Although not a decision-making group, members of a restoration advisory board can influence restoration decisions by discussing ideas, concerns, and questions and providing direct feedback to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and regulatory agencies. To submit your responses to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Public Interest Survey by the deadline of Wednesday, December 4, 2024, please click on the link below.
