LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) – A Laredo nonprofit is continuing the restoration of a home following a fatal shooting in March that left a woman dead and her family injured.
Since July, the Laredo HOPE Center and volunteers have been working to repair Frida Castillo's home after she was allegedly killed by her boyfriend Fernando Machado on March 15.
After the shooting, volunteers continued rebuilding the bullet-riddled home, hoping to finish it before the holiday season.
According to Jaime Arizpe, peer mental health specialist at Laredo HOPE Center, “Well, it's an ongoing tragedy, the loss of a loved one. There's still a lot of counseling needed, that's for sure.”
If you are interested in helping through donations or supplies, you can contact the Laredo HOPE Center at (956) 645-3695.
