The city of Hominy deals with a collapsed waterline that has been drying the taps since Wednesday. Felix Nance, the director of the emergency management, said a 12 -inch line under the dam at Lake Hominy failed and completed the only supply line to the water treatment plant.
Officials say that they have completed a temporary repair on Friday, and water goes into the treatment plant and they will restore the water service as soon as the system has enough time to catch up.
The city councilor Brandon Wallace says it would take several days to fill the water tanks to generate pressure and enable the disinfected water to rinse the system.
The city distributes bottle water until its supplies at the intersection of HWY 99 and Friends Street do not last ( The residents have to bring their own jugs to fill the non -drinkable water.
The mayor of Hominy, Donnie Reed, said the residents could expect a cooking regulation to be continued when the city washed the air out of the lines and, considering the age of the system, further breaks could be expected before the system was fully functional.
Reed said grants were available to make permanent repairs, but he had no timeline for how long it would take.
