Baton Rouge, La. (WAFB) – Many new construction projects have started to improve the experiences of the students at Southern University.
“The design of this new classroom is done to make a student to stay there, not” I have to go back to my dormitory, or I don't try to get to the union “, but that this design in which I get out of class is a level of comfort.
So far, the university has started to work on a new police department, a MINT building, a business building, an amphitheater and a welcome center. Dawson says that this will not only open up the opportunities for the current students, but hopefully more students will encourage themselves to register.
“When you bring in new students to look at the campus and see the activity, activity breeding, activity broods cooperation, activity broods activity, right? So see that the university does such things, I think they want to become part of it,” added Dawson.
The total cost of these projects is around 200 million US dollars, but Dawson is an investment in education. The school also focused on around 20 million US dollars on the care of older buildings, with new roofs and HLK systems.
With every new building, they try to preserve the rich history of the school.
“It may happen through works of art, it may be due to some pictures and things we have that would speak with it, but we make sure that this is also included,” said Dawson.
The students should be able to enjoy the welcome center and the amphitheater by the end of the year. The other major projects such as MINT and Business Building should be completed in 2027.
