Home Improvement Platform Thumbtack published a report on habits and attitudes in connection with the task of spring cleaning. While the report is full of information that helps you to fight your annual spring cleaning head -on, we are most interested in the one place where everyone in their houses seems to avoid.
The brand surveyed over 1,000 adults about Surveymonkey for spring cleaning statistics, which were carried out from February 25th to 26th, 2025-and the results are surprising.
Perhaps you think that most homeowners are trying to forget your bathroom Deep Scrub or Closet Remodel. Although it is the most hesitated task, it is a real wardrobe task, it is still being done at some point. There is a cleaning task that has never done over a quarter of the users of Thumbtack – once.
The most neglected area of the house
According to Thumbtack's survey, 33% of people say that they are simply not so good to clean their windows. 25% of the survey participants added that they had never cleaned their curtains.
Spring is the perfect time to refresh your windows, and with a sunny sky you want to have a unhindered view of flowering flowers and growing gardens. The cleaning of your windows also gives extra natural light so that you (and your inner plants) can even absorb the summer mood from the inside.
How to clean curtains
Thumbtack's expert tip is actually cleaning your curtains before you get to your windows. While it looks like the windows should be rinsed off first, experts from the Home Service website first recommend cleaning their blinds or curtains. Dust and dirt do not accumulate on the windows.
If you have fabric curtains, you can put them in the washing machine and name a day. You can also vacuum them first to remove large chunks of dust and dirt before washing the curtains according to your instructions. If you have to wash them by hand, a large bucket or a bathtub usually works best. Make them while working to clean the rest of your windows.
Blinds are a little more tedious, but do not have to be removed from the window to clean them. First dust off with a cloth or dustbuster to catch all the dirt on the blinds. As soon as that is done, you can deviate with a wet cloth.
Clean inside and outer windows
You can use a window cleaner for the interior or choose our homemade window cleaning solution. Scrub your windows with a cleaning cloth or paper towel to remove dirt, and then dry the window completely with a clean cloth to ensure that no stripes or water stains are left behind.
Outdoor window cleaning can be a difficult task if your house has several floors, so that many people choose to call the professionals for this home project. If you are ready to take on the task, you can try to handle your windows directly before using a long -stemmed window wiper.
Cleaning window tracks
We are not yet ready with Windows. Now it's time to open your windows and thoroughly clean the edges and tracks. A handheld vacuum or a vacuum with split uses can help you with dusty spots, while a wet rag grabs all the dirt that collects in the corners of your windows. A simple bottle of insert soap or a basic cleaning spray makes it easier to remove the structure.
