Egg: A school in the village of Pimpla Rui in the Beed district, Maharashtra in the village of Pimpla, presents a picture of despair and official neglect. The building is in such a dilapidated state that students and teachers fear their security every day.
In the absence of larger repairs, Zilla Parishad School, founded in 1961, has been apart for decades. The situation becomes worse in the monsoons when the rainwater floods the classrooms, since the structure has large cracks in the walls, holes in the roof and gaps in the back.
“Rainwater falls into the classroom … it is as if a pond is formed in every classroom. For this reason, the students have to be on the mats to study,” said a local. “Despite repeated calls, no significant repairs have been carried out so far,” he said.
Sheikh Nasir, a member of the school committee, said that money had come for this school many times but never reached school. “When we go to the educational officer, they say that their school had been handed over to funds. However, if the funds had come to us, the school would have been repaired,” he said.
The neighborhood community has expressed serious concerns about the uncertain classrooms and the damaged roof. “If an accident occurs in the future, the administration will be fully responsible for it,” warned the villagers.
Satish Shind, headmaster of the school, said ETV Bharat that the villagers and the school administration committee repeatedly demanded a new school building of the administration. In this regard, however, no specific measures have been taken.
“On the one hand, it is a great failure of the government if, despite the implementation of the” right to education “, children do not receive safe training. The problem of the Pimpla -rui School is not just about a village, E, but is a terrible reality of the education system in rural areas. The villagers have an interim demand for the construction of the building. said.
The students also appealed the immediate repair and said they study in constant need and fear due to the lack of repairs in the school building.
“My school leaks during the monsoon. There are holes in the roof. There are cracks in the walls. Therefore our school requires financial support. At the same time, this school should be repaired soon,” a student told ETV Bharat. “How can we study now? The school building crumbles. That's why we are afraid to sit at school. How can we study in a school in such a situation?”
In response to this, the officials of the educational department claimed that the school would soon be repaired because they evaluate the damage in all schools in the district.
“How much construction or repair is required for all schools we have? We have been looking for information from all group education officers and the local engineers of Sarva Shiksha Abbey,” said Bhagwan Phulari, educational officer of Beed's elementary school department. “After we have received all the information, we will give the schools in which the need arises and conclude the work of these schools. We will inspect the schools whose buildings are dilapidated. We will inspect them directly. After we have inspected such schools, we opt for these schools and repair or build these schools.”
