The Trading Standards Service (TSS) of the Ministry of Economy warns the residents to take care of unscrupulous dealers who could try to take advantage of the damage caused by the storm Éowyn.

According to the latest storm, residents across the country have reported extensive and large -scale damage to their property, whereby many households probably need extensive repairs to roofs, fences, windows, gutters and gardens.

Many people are now looking for reputable craftsmen who fix damage to their property. In a hurry to have their houses repaired, consumers will try to either get craftsmen online, via the recommendation pages of dealers or via a cold call at home.

Consumers could be seduced by dealers who offer repairs that start immediately at low prices. Unfortunately, fraudulent retailers often increase their fees after the start of work and may even try to threaten or intimidate homeowners if they refuse to pay. In such cases, the work is often carried out at a very bad level, so that consumers do not have to pay anything and have to hire another dealer to eliminate the chaos.

Damien Doherty, chief inspector of commercial standardssaid:

“Rogan dealers are opportunists and always too quickly to take advantage of the unfortunate circumstances of the people. TSS offers consumers who want to have repair work carried out at home, the following advice:
