Union township to get offers for barn repairs

Ringown – A barn in the Union's community complex could soon have a new roof and a siding when the municipality's supervisory authorities were implemented in order to obtain offers for the maintenance project.

The supervisory authorities of the municipality voted on the matter at the meeting on Tuesday evening.

The municipality has been discussing the possibility of the project for over a year.

Jennifer Kowalonek, an engineer with Alfred Benesch and Co., outlined the offer process and found that they are advertised by Pennbid.

Lawyer Bob Matta said there are concerns that the roof could not hold any further winter.

Kowalonek said the offers would be back within one month.

The barn is the last remnant of the old Catawissa Valley Fairground, on which the Ringown took place fairly shortly before the turn of the 20th century.

It has been organizing a fundraising campaign for Spukhaus for years.
