Carthage, MO – Vision Carthage will join the Carthage Chamber of Commerce in cutting a ribbon and presenting a check for $5,000 on behalf of the Corley Memorial Trust to celebrate the completion of a restoration home in Carthage at 1303 W. Central.
The event will take place on Wednesday, November 19th at 3:30 p.m. Parking is available in the King Cash Saver parking lot directly across from the house on the corner of Central and Baker. Vision Carthage partnered with the Joplin Area Habitat for Humanity and Abernathy Roofing and Construction to provide exterior siding for the home and began work in September.
The house, built in 1946, was not adequately insulated and was in urgent need of renovation.
The Restoration Carthage Program began in 2016. The program matches eager volunteers with skilled labor and materials to perform exterior home repairs through partnerships with other nonprofits and organizations at no cost to the homeowner.
To date, over 65 homes have been repaired or restored in the community.
This year's Carthage restoration effort was made possible by the Corley Memorial Trust, the Helen S. Boylan Foundation, the Joplin Area Habitat for Humanity, Abernathy Roofing and Construction, Galbraith
